**New - Mommy and Me Ballet
Mommy and Me Ballet classes for ages 1 and 2 consist of creative movement, rhythm training, and introductory ballet steps. These 45 minute classes are a great mix of structure and fun! Moms dance with their ballerinas in these classes! Class attire is casual. Mommy and Me Students will not perform in our recital; however, we will have a very special performance for parents and friends at our studio at the end of the year!
Pre-School and Tiny Tot
Pre-school classes consist of students ages 3 and 4, and Tiny Tot classes consist of students ages 5 and 6. These introductory dance classes are structured to teach 30 minutes of ballet and 30 minutes of tap. Also included in the class curriculum are creative movement, locomotor skills and rhythms. We strive to develop their creativity and love of dance, along with the appropriate basic technique and body awareness skills.
Classical Ballet
Ballet is the foundation for dance and an excellent and necessary foundation for other forms of dance. Proper technique and terms are emphasized in all classes. Barre, center floor, and across floor combinations are taught to achieve a progression of advancement for the student. Classes are taught at the appropriate age and technique levels. Classical ballet is taught to ages 3 through adult.
Contemporary Ballet
Contemporary ballet is a form of dance influenced by both classical ballet and modern dance. It takes its technique from classical ballet, although it permits a greater range of movement that may not adhere to the strict body lines set forth by ballet technique. Many of its concepts come from the ideas and innovations of 20th century modern dance, including floorwork and contemporary music.
Pointe
Pointe classes are by invitation only to advanced ballet students. Students must have very strong ballet technique and a proper level of physical strength determined by the instructor.
Tap
Tap classes are geared to teach basic steps, correct terminology and the understanding of rhythmic patterns. Barre, center floor, and across floor combinations are taught to achieve a progression of advancement for the student. Tap combinations are constructed into routines at the appropriate age and technique levels. Tap is taught to ages 3 through adult.
Jazz
Jazz classes start with warm-ups and stretching techniques at the barre and center floor. Classes consist of basic jazz movements including isolations, turns, and leaps. Barre, center floor, and across floor combinations are taught to achieve a progression of advancement for the student. Lyrical and contemporary styles of jazz are offered in older student classes. It is imperative that successful jazz dancers have a strong ballet background. Jazz is taught to ages 7 through adult.
**New-Musical Theater
This class is an introduction to the Musical Theater genre for young children. Classes will provide young students the opportunity to explore acting exercises, simple movement for musical theater and an introduction to singing. Students will learn songs and movement from current and classic musicals as well as the history of Musical Theater.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop classes offer a wide world of funk and street dance. Technique and combinations are taught in a progressive manner. Hip Hop classes encourage creative movement and self-expression. Hip Hop is offered to ages in Level 1 through adult. Level 1 students and up must take jazz in order to add hip hop. We also offer an All Boys Hip Hop Class on Fridays for ages 5 - 11.
Adult Classes
Adult classes are currrently offered in ballet and ballroom only. These classes are conveniently offered in the evenings and are geared towards the adult who always wanted to take dance, or the college student who wants to continue taking dance classes. Classes are structured with warm-ups, technique and fun combinations. More advanced adults are welcome to try our advanced hip hop class as well.
Ballroom
Intro to Ballroom
If you have a special event coming up or just always wanted to learn to partner dance, this is the class for you. Ballroom classes teach couples the fox trot, waltz, swing, mambo, cha cha and country western forms of dance just to name of few. Classes are taught in 5 week sessions.
Specialty Ballroom
This is a class for those that want to focus on specific styles of ballroom. We will focus on a different ballroom style each month. Call us for information on what style we are currently focusing on!
